The Energy Advice Providers Group of the EEPH commissioned research into the impact of Energy Performance Certificates on the Energy Advice Industry. The research highlights that the EPC is an advice tool in itself, but that pro-active support from advice providers is vital to ensure that housemovers take action on the basis of the EPC recommendations.
The research was carried out by Severn Wye Energy Agency and Alan Pither and the report and appendices include the following elements:
1) An account of the plans for introducing EPCs for home sales across all UK countries
2) A comparison with plans in other European countries
3) An assessment of the likely impact of EPCs on levels of demand on energy advice providers
4) An account – based on a survey of advice providers – of how providers might adapt their services around the introduction of EPCs
5) Case studies of advice providers who have already developed new initiatives around EPCs and “future case studies” giving ideas as to how providers might adapt their services in the future
6) A training plan for advice providers in EPCs.
