News John Chesshire obituary John Chesshire, who had been Chair of the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes since 2002 died peacefully on the 10th September after a short illness. John¿s obituary has now been published in the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/oct/07/john-chesshire New research published on real-time energy displays The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) has carried out a recent study on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust into real-time energy displays, or 'smart meters'. The main conclusion of the study was that the planned introduction of smart meters into UK homes will need strong Government intervention to ensure householders receive the sort of home energy displays they say they need to help them understand and control their energy use. The new Energy Saving Scotland Home Loans will provide interest free loans between £500 - £10,000 to enable householders to finance measures in existing homes including loft and wall insulation, small scale renewables and many others.
