LGA Survey Results Available

The results of the Local Government Association survey "Sustainable Energy and Climate Change" are now available. LGA worked together with EST and the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) to look at the level of local activity in sustainable energy and climate change in England and Wales.

Survey shows public want an Energy Report when they buy a house

An online survey was carried out for Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment(CABE), The Halifax Bank and WWF. The survey showed that homebuyers would like to know how energy efficient a property is before they purchase it.

Lords Committee Says Government Unlikely to Achieve Renewable Energy Targets

The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee have published their report "Renewable Energy: Practicalities". The report is a result of the enquiry started July 2003, chaired by Lord Oxborough, looking at the feasibility of achieving renewable energy targets set out by the Energy White.

National Audit Office Issue Report on Ofgem's Social Action Plan

The National Audit Office have released a report on Ofgem¿s Social Action Plan and household energy efficiency. The report praises Ofgem for it's efforts to help vulnerable customers and makes recommendations on how their work can be developed and improved.

ODPM Publish Consultation Document on Part L of the Building Regulations

ODPM have announced their proposals for new controls aimed at reducing the energy consumption of new buildings by 25 per cent and implementing the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. The proposed changes would be made in 2005 and are aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, in line with the Energy White Paper and the Energy Efficiency Action Plan.

Scottish Home Energy Report Piloted

A pilot home buyers survey scheme has been launched in four areas of Scotland. The report includes a home energy report which will give buyers details of the energy rating of the property and recommendations for energy savings.
