Showing items 701 to 720 of 873 Sustainable Builders Design Accreditation Scheme Launched10.Feb.2005 The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) has launched an accreditation scheme for sustainable building designers. The scheme was launched on 1 February 2005 at Scottish Parliament and comprises six specified criteria: designing for effective resource use, minimising pollution, supporting communities, promoting biodiversity, creating healthy environments and managing the build process. Blair Urges Further Action on Climate Change 04.Feb.2005 At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland last week Tony Blair called for urgent international action on climate change. The Prime Minister urged the USA to do more to support the global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Energy Efficiency in the Private Rented Sector 04.Feb.2005 The Partnership Managed Housing Group has recently set up the Private Rented Sector Sub Group. The aim of the group is to look into ways to encourage landlords to invest in energy efficiency. The group recently held a seminar with Treasury and ODPM to discuss possible incentives. Environmental Audit Commission Report on Housing 04.Feb.2005 The Environmental Audit Committee published a report on 30th January that criticises the Government's housing policy "Housing: Building a Sustainable future" states that the Government needs to take considerable steps in order to reduce emissions from the housing sector. Gallions Ecopark Evaluation 04.Feb.2005 Gallions Housing Association has published a report containing information gathered from resident monitoring at Gallions Ecopark. This report reviews and analyses perceptions and opinions on living in environmentally sustainable housing. Training for Sustainable Construction 04.Feb.2005 FaberMaunsell have published Sustainable Construction - Practical Guidance for Planners and Developers which explains to mixed audiences of planners and developers the relevance of sustainable construction to their professions and gives pragmatic, practical information on measures they should consider. Defra Publish Leaflet on Freedom of Information Act 28.Jan.2005 Defra has published a leaflet to inform stakeholders about the implications of the Environmental Information Regulation and the Freedom of Information Act. It provides details of how the new act will affect the release of information by Defra. Eco-Friendly Property Website Launched 28.Jan.2005 A new website has been launched specifically for advertising eco-friendly properties that are for sale. Green Moves is sponsored by WWF's One Million Sustainable Homes campaign and the Ecology Building Society, and has the support of the Somerset Trust for Sustainable Development and CO2 Balance. Input to Code for Sustainable Buildings Invited 28.Jan.2005 Last year the Sustainable Building Task Group recommended that a Code for Sustainable Buildings should be developed. A websitehas been set up to provide information on the Code and to give stakeholders the opportunity to feed into its development. Managed Housing Guide Launched 28.Jan.2005 EST's Managed Housing Programme, with the support of the Partnership's Managed Housing Strategy Group, has developed a guide for local authorities, housing associations and private landlords to help them develop and implement energy efficiency strategies. "Energy Efficiency - The Guide" has been launched and is available on EST's Practical Help Website. Sustainable Development Commission Request Examples of Best Practice 28.Jan.2005 In advance of the ODPM's summit on delivering sustainable communities, the Sustainable Development Commission is convening green housing and regeneration enthusiasts to promote best practice. Energy Efficiency in Northern Ireland 26.Jan.2005 The 2001 Northern Ireland House Condition Survey found that 1 in 3 of Northern Ireland households are fuel poor - almost five times the number found in England. This article examines the reasons behind the high level of fuel poverty and looks at what key organisations and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and doing to tackle the problem Bill on Stamp Duty Rebates for Energy Efficient Homes Launched 13.Jan.2005 A private members bill on stamp duty rebates for energy efficient homes was launched yesterday. The Bill was introduced by Kevin Baron MP and proposes to reduce stamp duty for house buyers who install energy efficiency measures in their home. DTI Publish Latest Energy Statistics 13.Jan.2005 DTI has published the Energy Trends for December 2004, which outlines the statistics on energy production and consumption and gives a breakdown of yearly changes. It also includes for the first time details on regional and local electricity and gas consumption for 2003, as well as generation and supply figures for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England for 2002 and 2003. European Commission Offer 52m Euro Funding 13.Jan.2005 The European Commission's Intelligent Energy-Europe programme (EIE) is offering 52m Euro of co-funding for energy efficiency and renewable energy promotional projects. Ofgem Publish EEC 2005-08 Administration Procedures 13.Jan.2005 Ofgem has published their decision document on the procedures for the Energy Efficiency Commitment for 2005-08, together with responses to the consultation document issued in August 2004. Self Assessment Tool Launched to Promote Healthier Communities 13.Jan.2005 The Health Development Agency (HDA), the Department of Health (DOH), Local Government Association (LGA) and the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) have published "Promoting healthier communities and narrowing health inequalities: a self-assessment tool for local authorities" which is aimed at helping councils to promote healthier communities and reduce health inequalities. Energy Efficiency in Scotland 12.Jan.2005 Scotland has just under 9% of the UK's housing stock with a high proportion of householders off the gas network and a large number of "non-traditional" property types. Despite the Scottish housing stock being, on average, more energy efficient than that in England, fuel poverty in Scotland is almost double the level of England. In this article, we look at what is being done to improve the energy efficiency of Scotland's housing stock. Skills and Training Review - Partners Invited to Comment 12.Jan.2005 The Chairman's Advisory Group has recently commissioned DG Associates to conduct research into current or likely skill shortages in the domestic energy efficiency sector and what training provision is available. Partners are invited to respond to 10 questions prepared by DG Associates. The findings of the research will be disemminated at a seminar on 22nd March.
