Showing items 361 to 380 of 873 Hard to Treat Pilots Launched in Wales23.Oct.2006 As part of the Welsh Home Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES) a series of pilots have been announced, which will be aimed at assessing how renewable technologies can contribute to tackling fuel poverty in hard to treat homes. Northern Ireland Electricity Energy Efficiency Report 23.Oct.2006 Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) have published their Energy Efficiency Programme 2005/06 annual report, which reveals that they have helped 2,500 households reduce their energy builds in one year. Ofgem Call for More Action on Microgeneration 16.Oct.2006 Ofgem are calling for energy suppliers to do more help their customers take up microgeneration technologies, following the publication of their decision document from their consultation carried out last year which looked at the regulatory aspects of domestic scale microgeneration. Scottish Executive Eco Schools Competition 16.Oct.2006 The Scottish Executive and Scottish Power are running an eco schools competition for primary school projects aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues, such as energy saving campaigns and recycling schemes, and local wildlife conservation and organic garden schemes. Unlocking the Power House - new microgeneration report 16.Oct.2006 The Sussex Energy Group have published a report which looks at the how microgeneration might be deployed and explores policies to support investment by consumers and energy suppliers. The report states that policy makers must support diverse routes to microgeneration deployment and that incentives are needed for customers and energy suppliers. Ashden Awards Call for Entries 10.Oct.2006 The 2007 Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy are seeking entries for inspirational and innovative schemes in the UK that use renewables energy, or reduce energy demand, at a local level. The closing date for entries is 21st November 2006. EEPH Deputy Chair Elections 10.Oct.2006 The two Deputy Chairs positions of the Partnership are due to be elected by the Steering Group members at its meeting on 7th March 2007. These positions are for three years and are presently held by William Gillis and Andrew Warren. They may stand for re-election if they so wish. Candidates are now called for these positions: one position for the industry sectors and the other for intermediary (or social) sectors. Second Dialogue on Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainable Development 10.Oct.2006 Last week the second Ministerial meeting of the Gleneagles Dialogue on Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainable Development took place in Monterrey, Mexico. The meeting included a presentation on the main findings of the Stern Review, which will be published later this month and looks at the economics of climate change. Energy Saving Trust Sustainable Energy Network Pilot: One Year On 29.Sep.2006 In response to the challenge laid down by the government's Energy White Paper, the Energy Saving Trust began piloting a network of Energy Saving Trust Advice Centres to implement a sustainable energy network approach in April 2005. This article provides an update on the progress of the Pilot. English House Condition Survey 2004 Published 29.Sep.2006 The English House Condition Survey 2004 has been published, together with the 2003 Regional report. The reports show that energy efficiency standards have improved significantly since 1996 and the level of social housing failing the Decent Homes thermal comfort element has been reduced from 45% to 22%. Government calls for Financial Incentives Linked to Energy Performance Certificates 29.Sep.2006 This week Housing Minister Yvette Cooper called for Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) to be linked to incentives such as green mortgages. In a statement about Home Information Packs (HIPs), the Minister also suggested that EPCs could be linked to schemes run by energy suppliers which give homebuyers money upfront to make energy saving alterations to their properties. She will be meeting with mortgage lenders and energy companies to discuss the development of these kinds of incentives. New Government Office of Climate Change 29.Sep.2006 The Government have set up a new Office of Climate Change (OCC) which will work across Government and provide support in the analysis and development of the UK climate change policy and strategy. DTI Publish Proposals for Energy Technologies Institute 15.Sep.2006 Following the announcement in the Budget 2006, DTI have published their vision and proposals for the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) and are calling for expressions of interest from the private sector to match their £500m funding over the next decade for research and development in clean and renewable energy technologies. Energy Saver Awards 2006: call for entries 15.Sep.2006 Energy Action Scotland and Eaga Group are calling for entries to their Energy Saver Awards 2006. Entries should be local energy saving initiatives, based in Scotland, which tackle fuel poverty and improve domestic energy efficiency. Progress of the Health Housing and Fuel Poverty Forum 15.Sep.2006 The Health Housing and Fuel Poverty Forum is an initiative from the Partnership's Health Sub Group which was set up on behalf of the group by the UK Public Health Association in 2005, and funded to date by the Partnership. This article provides an update on the progress the Forum has made so far as well as details of activities going forward. Scottish Executive Announce Additional Funding for Energy Efficient Schools 15.Sep.2006 The Scottish Executive have announced that they will be investing £30m to improve school buildings. This will include funding for energy efficiency measures such as heating and insulation as well as solar panels and wind power. UK Government Urged to Increase Action on Climate Change 15.Sep.2006 A report published today by Friends of the Earth and the Cooperative Bank urges the UK Government to implement a major new programme in the next four years to reduce carbon emissions by 70% by 2030 and sets out the first UK road map for tackling Climate Change. Energy Saving Trust Ventilation Site Inspection Project 08.Sep.2006 The Energy Saving Trust's Best Practice in Housing Programme is planning to inspect a selection of domestic ventilation systems to see how the installed performance compares to the design specification. BRE, the managing agent for the programme, will be carrying out the inspections and are seeking volunteers to take part in the project. European Commission Report on Energy Efficiency and Renewables Scenarios 08.Sep.2006 A report has been published by the European Commission which looks at several scenarios for energy efficiency and renewables, and predicts that Europe could keep carbon emission levels below those of 1990, beyond 2010. It also concludes that a combinatiob of strong energy efficiency and renewables would be the best scenario for achieving EU targets. Further Winners of the Climate Change Fund Announced 08.Sep.2006 Following the announcement of the fifty three winners of the Climate Change Fund in June, the second tranche of winners have been announced.
